Recognizing the critical need for improved local leadership in natural resource governance, the SUSTAIN Eco project has been taking a proactive role in supporting inclusive, community-centred solutions.
From 16-26 June, the project in collaboration with Regional Natural Resources Officer, Lake Rukwa Basin Water Board (LRBWB), Rukwa Environmental Management society (REMSO) and District Forest Officers, conducted workshop on accountability, transparency and coordination on NR governance and management to VNRC (Village Natural Resources Committee) and environmental committee in Kalambo, Nkasi and Sumbawanga Districts within Rukwa region.
The goal was to jointly explore practical ways to improve transparency in decision-making, enhance community feedback loops, and develop village-level action plans that promote integrity and inclusivity in Natural resource management. This training was structured to identify gaps, challenges and solutions that these local natural resources governing structures faces in management of natural resources.
