SUSTAIN Eco: Transforming land ownership through CCROs in Kalambo District, Tanzania

  SUSTAIN     Video

SUSTAIN Eco promotes land tenure security and empowers communities in the Sumbawanga landscape of Tanzania through the issuance of Certificates of Customary Rights of Occupancy (CCROs). By strengthening community participation in land governance and encouraging more inclusive and sustainable resource management, the programme addresses land ownership inequalities for women and vulnerable groups who have historically been excluded from land rights due to cultural norms. SUSTAIN Ecosystem stewardship to balance sustainability and growth in Tanzania (SUSTAIN Eco) is a 10-year programme implemented by a consortium of partners—International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN, consortium lead), African Wildlife Foundation (AWF), and the Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV). The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) funds the programme.
