Fit for Principle, Insufficient for Purpose? Advancing Transboundary Water Cooperation

The session examines bottlenecks to advancing transboundary water cooperation, namely: inadequate agreement formation, inadequate financing, insufficient river basin organization visibility, and scant institutional alignment to the basin, recognising that cooperation will need to accelerate if SDG target 6.5 is to be achieved.

This two-pager has been prepared by IUCN, IWMI and Oregon State University to frame this World Water Week session which is to take place on Sunday 25 August, 14.00 - 15.30 CEST.
