
Regional institutional arrangements advancing water, energy and food security in Central Asia : institutional gap analysis
Central Asia is highly vulnerable to climate change impacts. The region is experiencing rapid demographic changes and suffers from water, energy and food insecurities. Environmental degradation and scarcity as well as the uneven distribution of natural resources have emerged as an important trigger and accelerating factor of tensions within the region and among nations. , IUCN conducted an institutional analysis of existing institutional arrangements for multi sectoral dialogue and cooperation among Central Asian states to better understand how the new Action Programme to assist the countries of the Aral Sea Basin (ASBP-4) can develop and implement regional investment projects that consider the Water-Energ-Food Security Nexus approach.
